Sage smudging 101

Sage smudging is an ancient ritual that was used for healing and spiritual cleansing and blessings. Sage is a sacred plant that has a large amount of benefits for your mind, body and spirit.

Benefits of sage smudging:

Removes 94% of bacteria
Removes negative energy
Cleanses objects
Can reduce stress
Mood and energy boost
Improves sleep
Clear the air of mold spores
Can be used in spiritual and religious rituals
Clears your aura of any negative energy

I notice instant benefits in myself after sage smudging. It is my favourite tool to use to remove negativity, cleanse objects and ground myself.

Before cleansing your home it is always advised to cleanse your aura first. You can sage smudge whenever you want to.

I sage smudge if:

I feel the presence of any negative energies or spirits
I feel negative in myself
If there has been any arguments in the house
To cleanse my crystals and tarot cards.
New moon and full moon rituals
And sometimes whilst meditating, reading tarots or just on days when I feel drawn to.

Tips for sage smudging

If you are sage smudging to bring energy in the go clockwise around the room.

If you are sage smudging to cleanse or remove negativity then go counterclockwise to draw the energy out.

Have a window open for the negative energy to leave the room.

Having a sage stick or feather to direct the smoke of the sage is advised. You may need to relight as it can easily burn out.

Cleanse your aura by lighting the sage and cleanse from your head, down your body and up your back. Put the palms of your hands and soles of your feet over the sage. Whilst cleansing repeat

Spirit Guides/Ancestors/Guardian Angels, cleanse my aura of any negative energy. Send it back to where it came from or back into the earth to be replenished for good use.”

Always have a window open in the room.

  8. I’m having a problem with my comments lately and know I have commented twice before, but no matter.

I love the idea of sage smudging but sadly every time I have attempted it (with homemade sage) I have almost burnt the house down. My current house hasn’t been saged yet, after a year, and all the bad shit has happened. I’m beginning to think the bad luck needs to be warded away, but I just can’t bring myself to dry out and make my own sage.

I suppose that’s what amazon is for!

    Thank you for sharing.
