30 day happiness challenge

30 day happiness challenge

The Sacred Space AP is all about promoting a positive mindset, encouraging personal development and helping you make an overall difference to your life. This is why this month I have put together a 30 day happiness challenge!

All 30 days are accessible to everyone and will hopefully make you feel happier, more positive and grateful.

1. Daily gratitude list

I am a firm believer of getting into the habit of ending your daily on a gratitude list. For the next 30 days write a daily gratitude list of 3-5 things you are grateful for from your day, no matter how big or small. Shifting your mindset to focus on what you have to be grateful for will encourage a positive mindset and more things that will bring you gratitude to enter your life.

2. Make a goal list

If you do not write a yearly or monthly goal list already give it ago! It is fantastic for personal development and allowing you to see where you need to focus your energy to get to where you want to be. Alternatively, if like me you already write a monthly goal list, try a weekend or a week goal list!

3. Do something for the environment

Climate change is real and you can make a difference. Here is a list of ways you can help the environment today:

  • Recycle all waste food
  • Recycle all plastic and packaging used
  • Turn off all unnecessary electrical items (plugs, lights, phone charger etc)
  • Purchase eco friendly products (recycled paper, recycled wrapping paper, soap bars, anything in recycled packaging)
  • Cut down on your plastics
  • Get a lift share or walk instead of using your car if possible
  • Plant a tree
  • Sign petitions
  • Have a meat free day
  • Have a dairy free day
  • Use reusable bags

4. Make a yummy breakfast

Enjoy some overnight oats, a yummy fruit and veg smoothie or whatever your favourite breakfast might be. Breakfast is the most important meal of the day as they say and it is a delicious way to start the day.

5. Journal

Journaling is a wonderful exercise that can help you achieve your goals, encourage mindfulness and gratitude and it is a good way to get anything off your chest. It can be used to help manage stress or anxiety or just help you with your self development.

6. Plan a relaxing evening

Plan an evening to unwind. Ensure you go to bed half an hour earlier than usual, turn your phone off an hour before bedtime, have an evening off any work and do whatever you do to relax. It will help you get a better night’s sleep too!

7. Start a new book

Reading can be very therapeutic and relaxing, along with expanding our knowledge. Try to read a motivational, inspirational or educational book that will help you develop personally.

8. Compliment and/or help someone today

It is crucial we spread kindness and love in this world. Make a conscious effort today to smile at everyone, give someone a compliment or buy a homeless person some food. A small kind selfless act as above will leave a lasting impression on someone.

The power and importance of kindness

9. Buy someone a gift or write them a card

Treat someone you love to a small gift or a handwritten card/letter today. Let them know how much they mean to you!

10. Morning or evening yoga

Allocate 10 minutes to start or end your day with some yoga. Follow a YouTube video and take some deep breaths. Zen out.

11. Call a friend

Call a friend that you haven’t spoken to in a while or miss! We all need human interaction and a good chin wag now and again.

12. Dedicate time for some daily self care

Ensure you are giving yourself some self care every day. It is important and doesn’t have to cost much time or money to do. Setting time aside for yourself is a priority. Stuck for ideas? Hit one of my links below, you will thank me later!

13. Put yourself first

How often do you put other peoples needs and wants before your own? It is time to make a change and start prioritising yourself and your happiness.  You can still put yourself first whilst loving and caring for others. Not ensuring you are a priority in your own life will have a serious negative effect on your mental health and well being over time. Your happiness is your responsibility.

14. Set yourself some affirmations

Write down some affirmations to repeat daily to help motivate and inspire you.

15. Celebrate yourself

We often over look how far we have come and wait for others to celebrate our success over ourselves. Celebrate yourself today, how much your life has changed in the past year, what you have achieved this year or month. Celebrate the big and the small. Be proud of yourself.

16. Write a forgiveness letter

Holding onto anger is destructive for our own mental health. Forgive someone today and write a forgiveness letter. This letter could even be forgiving yourself. Forgive for YOU. Write the letter and burn it, tear it up, do whatever you see fit. But let it go.

17. No social media day

Unplug from social media for a day. It is easy to become glued to our phone and it is not healthy. Take 24 hours off and reconnect with yourself, people around you and the earth.

18. Do something you have been putting off

You know that item on your to do list that has been there for months or that job, phone call, email your avoiding. Face it today and remove that weight off your shoulders. You will be glad to get it over and done with.

19. Get organised

How much better does it feel to have a clean room, decluttered draw, food prepped or an empty inbox? Make some time today to get yourself organised.

20. Meditate

Take 10 minuets this morning and/or evening to be still and meditate. Meditating has incredible benefits for your mind, body and spirit, and it will really help you destress. If you are new to meditating learn how to meditate below with my free guide.

21. Buy yourself some flowers

Do not wait for your other half to buy you flowers or a special occasion to receive them, go out and treat yourself to your favourite flowers.

22. Exercise

Exercise does not have to be an experience you dread! There are so many classes you can join or ways to keep fit that can make exercise fun for all. Find what exercise you enjoy and what makes you feel good. If your current gym routine is boring you try a new gym class, a new work out regime or find a gym partner to train with.

23. Have some alone time

As much as it is important to socialise, it is also crucial to spend some time by ourselves. Learn to be happy in your own company, reflect and work on your inner happiness.

24. Take a day off

Schedule a day off yourself. No work, no studying, limit your responsibilities and duties to only the necessary. Have a day doing nothing but being you and focusing on your happiness. In other words RELAX. Fill your day with self care and love.

25. Make your favourite meal

Cook a beautiful delicious meal for yourself. Use fresh ingredients, spend time enjoying cooking and preparing your food and (most importantly) enjoy eating it! It is easy to get into a routine with our daily diets and only cook for special occasions. Break that habit and treat yourself today.

26. Practise mindfulness

Adopting a mindful mindest and incorporating mindfulness into your daily life has been shown to have profound effects for your mindset, mental health and well being. Being mindful will encourage you to live in the moment, clear your mind enabling you to focus better, allow you to live your life in a positive manner full of gratitude and will overall increase your happiness.

You can try mindful eating, cleaning, showering o meditating as exercises. Click the link below to find out more on mindfulness.

27. Deep clean a room

Organising and deep cleaning a room is like a breath of fresh air! You will feel a sense of achievement and relief after that it is done. Remember to donate and recycle what you can for added bonus points!

28. Take a long relaxing bath

Try adding lavender oil to your bath, treat yourself to a bath bomb or light some candles and read a book. If you do not have a bath then have a long relaxing shower with some music playing.

29. Walk 10k steps

Walking 10,000 steps might sound daunting but it isn’t as difficult as it sounds. This exercise is also great for your mind, body and spirit. It will clear your mind, get your body working and energise your spirit.

30. Treat yourself

You did it! Treat yourself to something you have wanted for ages or even just your favourite take out. You deserve it.

Sending love and light,

  1. Nice post.
The help/compliment someone today is one I love. Even interacting with strangers is one I would also recommend to be added to this list.

  6. This is such a great challenge. We often forget to do these (small) things when we’re all “go go go”. It’s good to do these things and to take that step back during the day. I loved reading this post!

  7. What a great idea! I love all of these, and definitely some things on this list that I need to do. For the recycling point I’d recommend looking into enform – they take loads of stuff that the council doesn’t so I’ve decided to use them for recycling as well now.

  8. I definitely needed this! I’m not feeling very well lately so this is a good start to find my happiness again!

  9. Such a great post! I love the idea of doing something different for yourself every day for a month. Thank you for sharing!

  10. I really like how you laid out 30 different things for each day of the challenge. It was kinda funny b/c I actually felt a little calmer and happier just reading your list b/c many of these things really do bring relaxation and joy into my life. I’m going to try this in December – when I’m sure I’ll want to the most stressed!
